The relief of being truly heard by a physician who knows your kidneys.

Every diagnosis is explained in plain language. Every recommendation is medically necessary, never volume driven. Every plan is shaped to fit the life you intend to keep living.

Patient Voices

The difference is in how we listen.

For the first time in two years, I left a kidney appointment feeling like someone had actually explained what was happening, and what I could do about it. They partnered with me.

When I faced the choice between home dialysis and in-center, my doctor walked me through every option with patience, and trusted me with the decision.

How We Work

A clear path from uncertainty to a plan.

STEP 01

Listen

The first visit is a conversation. We review records, hear your concerns in your words, and identify what matters most.

STEP 02

Investigate

Targeted labs, imaging, and where indicated, biopsy. We test deliberately, never reflexively, and review every result with you.

STEP 03

Plan

A written plan covering monitoring, medications, lifestyle partnership, and what success looks like at three, six, and twelve months.

STEP 04

Partner

Ongoing care with the same physician team, portal access to your results, and direct communication with your other providers.

Common Questions

Honest answers, plainly given.

Do I need a referral to be seen?
Most insurance plans require a referral from your primary care physician for specialty visits. We are happy to coordinate this with your doctor. Call our office and we will begin the process for you.
How do I know if I should see a nephrologist?
Common reasons include reduced kidney function on labs (eGFR), protein or blood in the urine, difficult-to-control blood pressure, recurrent kidney stones, or a family history of kidney disease. If your primary care physician has flagged a concern, that conversation belongs with a specialist.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
A current medication list including over-the-counter supplements, recent labs or imaging if you have them, your insurance card and ID, and any questions you have written down. Most importantly, bring your honest concerns.
Will I see the same physician each visit?
Continuity of care is central to how we practice. You are assigned a primary nephrologist who manages your plan. If your physician is unavailable, your records are reviewed in detail before any other team member meets with you.
Do you accept my insurance?
We participate with most major commercial insurers, Medicare, and Medicaid plans serving the CSRA. Call our office and we will verify your benefits before your first visit so there are no surprises.
Can I receive care if I already see another nephrologist?
Yes. Second opinions are welcome, and we encourage them whenever a major treatment decision is on the table. We will request records from your current provider and offer an independent review with no pressure to transfer your care.

Your kidneys deserve a second opinion you trust.

Why Clinicians Stay

We protect the conditions that make great medicine possible.

01Time to practice

New-patient visits run 45 to 60 minutes. We do not double-book. Your appointment time is genuinely yours, and so is your patient's.

02Responsible autonomy

Every recommended procedure passes an internal necessity review. We back your judgment and measure outcomes, not volume.

03Academic depth

Pathways built on KDIGO and ASN guidelines, reviewed quarterly, with mentorship and continuing education for every clinician.

04A region that trusts us

An integrated CSRA network, direct hospital and transplant relationships, and a community that has trusted this practice for a generation.

Where Care Meets Research

We practice medicine, and help write it.

Through Southeastern Clinical Research, our physicians serve as principal and site investigators on the trials that define modern nephrology, from SPRINT to DAPA-CKD to the Vadadustat anemia program. Practicing here means a career where excellent patient care and published, practice-changing research happen under one roof.

Our Mission

The standard of care started as someone's trial.

Southeastern Clinical Research is the dedicated trials arm of Nephrology Associates, PC. We exist to bring rigorously studied, next-generation kidney therapies to the people of the CSRA, years before they reach general practice, without ever compromising the safety, dignity, or consent of the patients who make that progress possible.

Every study is governed by an independent Institutional Review Board, run by a Good Clinical Practice trained team, and overseen by the same board-certified nephrologists who care for our patients every day. Research here is not separate from care. It is an extension of it.
